65th Annual National Student Research Forum - April 20, 2024

The 65th Annual National Student Research Forum (NSRF) will be held on April 20, 2024 on the UTMB campus. The NSRF is organized and run by students for the discussion of student research papers in a scientific atmosphere. The Oral Presentation Abstract deadline will be March 9, 2024; Poster Presentation Abstract Deadline: March 23, 2024; and Osler Essay Contest Deadline: March 23, 2024. Click here to learn more. Faculty Workshop: Optimizing Mentoring Relationships for Research Mentors - April 26, 2024

Presented by the UTMB Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Dr. Robert Tillman, Assistant Dean, Faculty Affairs and Faculty Development; Director of Mentoring and Professional Development; Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, Baylor College of Medicine. GSBS/SPPH Commencement 2024 - May 17, 2024

The School of Public and Population Health and Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences will host a joint Commencement at 2:00pm on Friday, May 17, 2024, in William C. Levin Hall Auditorium on the UTMB campus. A2i Summer Job Search Strategies Training

Accelerate to Industry (A2i) is a career readiness training program for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows developed by the NC State University Graduate School (go.ncsu.edu/a2i).  The program is designed to help participants prepare to enter the workforce and achieve career success.  The UTMB GSBS is thrilled to be a participating institution in this unique program and offer access to this training for our trainees! 

All GSBS graduate students and postdoctoral scholars may participate in the upcoming Job Search Strategies series of virtual presentations during the month of June.  These will be offered on Thursdays in June from 11-12 CST (please note their info says 12-1pm but that is EST).

Schedule is as follows:

Session 1: Teamwork and Communication within Industry | June 1, 2023 12-1 p.m. EST
Dr. Brooke Bissinger a marketing product manager at AgBiome will be presenting on teamwork from

the industry prospective and how individuals and team communicate within a company.

Session 2: Understanding Corporate Culture and How to Industry Network | June 8, 2023 12-1 p.m. EST
NC State and A2i Alumni Lexi Malico, Ph.D and Emily Kryzstowczyk, Ph.D from BASF will be presenting on how to network with industry as well as what is corporate culture and how can you identify a companies corporate culture.

Session 3: The STAR Technique for Interviews | June 15, 2023 12-1 p.m. EST
Join Assistant Dean for Professional Development Dr. Rhonda Sutton on her presentation using the STAR technique for responding to interview questions.

Session 4: Navigating the Industrial Highway: One Scientists Road Trip | June 22, 2023 12-1 p.m. EST
Dr. Dawn Mason a global external innovations manager for Eastman will be presenting on her own career journey and how you can start your career exploration, along with tips and tricks along the way.

Session 5: Job Application Tips | June 29, 2023 12-1 p.m. EST

Dr. Matt Melillo and team at ParkerLORD will be presenting on preparing your job applications and recommendations for being successful in the hiring process.
