Scholarship Applications are available online ( General Scholarship Nomination Form & Specific Scholarship Nomination Form ) and the applicant should fill and upload all the required documents before the deadline Monday, September 9th 2013. All documents should be saved as PDF and uploaded in the Scholarship Nomination Form. Incomplete applications and those that fail to follow the format will notbe considered.

UTMB implemented a new system last fall, MySTAR, and with that came "student accounts" that UTMB has never had before. As a result, we changed the way we process scholarship checks so that it was consistent for all students at UTMB and in compmliance with federal regulations. Student Enrollment is now required to reflect all scholarships/awards on a student's financial aid records and report them to the Internal Revenue Service each year.
When Student Enrollment applies your scholarhip to your account, if there is a balance due for your tuition/fees, those are automatically paid first since that is an outstanding obligation to the University. Any remainder is direct deposited or mailed to you.

PERSONAL RESEARCH/CAREER STATEMENT: Please sumbit a summary of your research accomplishments and career goals.
To be considered for a travel award, provide the name of the meeting to be
attended, identify the abstract to be presented (by citation) or your role at
the conference and provide a statement concerning expectations to be met by
attendance. Your statement should be the equivalent of a single page with 1 inch
margins utilizing 10 or 12 point font in Word.
FINANCIAL NEED FIELDS: For Scholarship requiring demonstrated financial need, please follow the steps below in order to have your financial need calculated:
Go to College Board http://apps.collegeboard.com/fincalc/efc_welcome.jsp calculate your 2013-2014 EFC and financial need in order for us to estimate your financial aid. Once you have calculated your EFC, please fill out the appropriate fields on the scholarship application.
Click on start
Update pages, clicking next until you reach the Results page. On the formula page please select Both FM & IM.
From the results page please fill in the Financial Need fields on the application
If applying for "BOTH" Specific and General Scholarships PLEASE NOTE – You must have a reference letter for your General Scholarship Application, and ANOTHER reference letter for your Specific Scholarship application. Also PLEASE NOTE that the Specific Scholarship reference letter must state the scholarships you're applying for, we will NOT accept 1 letter for both applications.
TRANSCRIPT: Please use MySTAR to request an official transcript be sent to the Graduate School.
CONFIDENTIAL COMMENTS BY DISSERTATION MENTOR: Please request that a confidential letter of nomination from your advisor or dissertation mentor is
emailed to Lisa Floridia Email: email@example.com. The letter should address stated criteria of the awards for which you are nominated. Do not submit additional letters.
CURRICULUM VITAE: Please upload a current curriculum vitae prepared in standard UTMB format
PUBLICATIONS (Optional): Please upload copies of
the first page (ONLY) of two representative publications if you have any.
